About Us The Child Brain Injury Trust Northampton was established in 1993 when a parent discovered there was a lack of local information and support for families and carers who had experienced of a child with a brain injury. The group has and remains affiliated to the National charity from which its name is derived and when originally set up was called the Childrens Head Injury Trust Northampton Area. In 2001 the name was changed to its current format, The Child Brain Injury Trust Northampton; The national charity is based at Unit 1, The Great Barn, Baynards Green Farm, Nr Bicester OX27 7SG. Over the years it has evolved to reflect the needs of those involved in the group as well as recognising a duty to ensure that there is a local network of individuals at hand to provide information and support to parents, carers, and children when required. CBIT Northampton is proud to work closely with a working party of representatives from local education, social care and health providers to establish county wide guidelines for an integrated approach to services for children with acute brain injury (ABI). The Guidelines were launched across the county with approval from all service providers in March 2002 and can be utilised instigated after an injury by with acute paediatricians and hospital teachers on local hospital wards through to community support services to endeavour to try and ensure a smooth re-integration back to school.
